Jewish Women's Adventure Challenge Expedition

A challenging international expedition to Nepal for religious Jewish women

Jewish Women
The Vision
Love of nature, an urge for adventure, a desire for friendship and international female Jewish partnership have brought together three leading travel companies, Eddie's Travel, Shai Bar Ilan Geographical Tours and Xtrip, to create an annual international challenge expedition for observant Jewish women, in order to create bridges between regions, religions, cultures and world views. During these unusual voyages in exotic countries and far-flung locations, emphasis will be placed on religious women's empowerment, preserving nature's values, and creating awareness of global ecological issues. Every year we will choose a communal project which the expedition will adopt.

The Idea
WXtrip Women's Adventure Challenge is an experiential field expedition specially designed for women from Israel and all over the world, and is held every year in an exotic location. The expedition preserves the spirit of Xtrips programs, combining geographical and ethnographic experiences that combine active self-drive jeep excursions, hiking, and other challenging activities. All this takes place while learning about the geography, history and ethnography of the destination country. The first such expedition took place in Nepal in October 2010 and included women from all over the world. This was followed by another expedition made up of women from Israel alone.

The Community Project
One of WXtrip's primary goals is to play an active role in securing and maintaining the delicate balance of environment and nature, while at the same time developing awareness of the connection between social and ecological problems. This year the project will be adopting a school in one of the far-flung regions of Nepal. Over and above the renovation of classrooms; donation of furnishings and teaching aids to the school; clothes and satchels for the students; the establishment of a library and donation of books during the expedition, expedition participants will spend a day together with the students and their parents as they repair the school's façade.

JWXtrip's Jewish Women's Adventure Challenge Expedition
The international expedition for religious Jewish women is a joint production of Xtrip and Shai Bar Ilan Geographical Tours. These two leading companies have come together to enable observant Jewish women from all over the world to participate in this empowering and unique expedition in the Himalayan Mountains. The expedition does not travel on Shabbat and all the food is strictly kosher (Chabad). We will spend Shabbat near Chabad of Pokra, Nepal where we will enjoy their hospitality. Cost of participation in the expedition is $3990 per person sharing and includes ALL expenses during the expedition – kosher food, hospitality, transport, round trip flights from Israel, as well as a clothing kit for the days of the expedition. For those NOT flying from Tel Aviv, and who are making their own international travel arrangements, the cost of the expedition is $3240 per person sharing.

Nepal: International Jewish Women's Challenge Expedition to the Annapurna Range

JWXtrip's International Women's Adventure Challenge Expedition to Nepal combines a journey to the lofty scenery on the roof of the world with a human and cultural quest that touches upon faiths and religions cloaked in mystery, located in mountainous regions which were once accessible only after many days of walking. During our expedition we will pass through ancient cities and towns, raft down rivers, travel by jeep through snow-covered mountain peaks and verdant pastures, trek and hike along elevated mountain paths through far-flung villages, as we discover what it means to breathe the mountain air of the world's tallest mountain range. Due to its geographical location between India, China and Tibet, the Kingdom of Nepal has served for hundreds of years as a cultural and historic bridge the ancient Indian culture, and the developing Buddhist religion that spread northward into Tibet, and the ancient culture of China. The expedition caravan will travel in self-driven 4-wheel drive vehicles that will require driving in challenging conditions, on- and off-trail hiking, rafting, foot-based and vehicular navigation, riddles and quizzes, leadership assignments and interpersonal communications and relationships, logistical organization, rescue and survival.
