I wondered if it's going to be a love letter, biased by the undying passion I have for my city, it's diversity, color, intoxicating energy, it's art and culture, fashion and architecture, and the list just goes on. There is something indescribable in it's uniqueness and the word that pops to my head - its New York-ness.

THE ATLANTIS RESORT, IN BEAUTIFUL NASSAU, BAHAMAS

The Atlantis resort, in beautiful Nassau, Bahamas
The Caribbean Islands consist of thousands of islands, all of which border or are enveloped by the Caribbean Sea. Yet, they are divided as Island countries, some ?as a sprinkling of land belonging to a larger country, some remnants of past Grand Empires, British, French, Dutch and more. Some are small, often stunning pieces of paradise, surrounded by lapping turquoise water, lush vegetation, and mere extensions of their nearby mainland. Paradise Island is aptly named. It is a beauty to behold, located just off the shore of Nassau, Bahamas and is connected to the northern edge of the island of New Providence by two bridges.

SWIMMING WITH DOLPHINS AND SEA LIONS IN DOLPHIN CAY, BAHAMAS

Swimming with Dolphins and Sea Lions in Dolphin Cay, Bahamas
In this amazing 14 acres resort, filled with 7 million gallons of sparkling, crystalline seawater, I got to visit one of the largest and most advanced animal rescue and rehab facilities in the world. My immediate impulse was to go deep sea diving and join the dolphins as their agile bodies swam around, all the while feeling safe. I had an encounter with a dolphin who picked me and not only stuck around but actually gave little gentle nudges to my face, and continued with me as I surfaced and removed my mask.

St. Maarten!!
There was St Maarten, owned by the Dutch, and St. Martin, the French side (uses Euros as opposed to the more Anglicized St. Maarten, where US dollars are the going currency.) The walk itself was breathtakingly lovely, with glimpses to left of white washed beaches, turquoise waters, palm trees, peppered with people selling cold slices of water melon and peeled sugar cane. On the right there were green hills, and up high, buildings of great beauty, mostly privately owned.

THE MAGIC OF TALINN, ESTONIA

The Magic of Talinn, Estonia
A number of years ago I discovered a gem, hitherto unknown to me. It left such an astounding impression on me, I returned again recently. Like with a great piece of art or literature, the second visit yielded new discoveries, and even more magic and beauty. In this blog I’d like to focus on my first impressions, my unexpectedly delightful introduction to a town which remained mostly untouched since it first made it’s place on the map in 1154. I was on a cruise thru Scandinavia, Estonia and Russia, when our ship stopped about 40 miles south of Helsinki, and there it was…Tallinn, like a tiny precious jewel, so lovely my soul was nurtured just by coming upon it.

OUR FAMILY'S FIRST CRUISE

Landing at the airport, we were picked up by our host and promptly taken to their home, which turned out to be one of the the most exquisite Grand Mansions we have ever visited. There was no need for air conditioning - The breeze from the ocean filled the place with fragrant fresh air. The well manicured gardens had several patios, all laid out with white sofas and cushy arm chairs, the sheer white curtains floating like veils in in the cross-wind, protecting us from the sun or the occasional sun shower.

JEWISH LIFE IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE

Jewish life in the South of France
The Jewish population in France, dates back to the Roman Empire, and had a fairly unstable existence, depending on the governing bodies. Israelites first arrived after the distraction of the Temple of Herod, and the conquest of Jerusalem. The tragedy at Massada happened around the same time, all of which forced them to disperse through the Mediterranean. with the South of France being one of the main places of refuge. Thus began a long history filled with periods of strive and strife...

Working in the travel business allowed me the opportunity to visit incredible cities. I have always felt excited and moved by the depth and beauty of St. Petersburg. Every time I arrived at the port city, gray clouds loomed from above. It seems to be a reminder that what makes this culturally rich city tick is its emotional, dark history that permeates through every pore of the city, including the weather. Even the people seem to have a constant heaviness surrounding themselves. It is not a light and fluffy place. Its intense, emotional and deep.
