When Sarah Palin ran for Vice President, the whole country was abuzz with anecdotes about Alaskan moose, making it sound as if this was the only animal to symbolize United States cold-est, most Arctic state. People wishing to make fun of the pretty lady from the north, as well as her supporters, sported large antlers and buck teeth, as a symbol of Alaska's contribution to the elections.

PURIM

The holiday that's all fun and joy- On the 14th day of the month of Adar, Jews all over the world celebrate Purim, the favourite holiday of kids and adults alike. There is so much I love about this holiday: First and foremost, it is a celebration of women and an acknowledgment of our immense power and influence. There was this young, brave beauty who risked her life to save the doomed people of her tribe, put on a false identity as a gentile so she could marry a man she did not love but had to influence, using her beauty, wisdom and magical persona.

The Atlantis resort, in beautiful Nassau, Bahamas
The Caribbean Islands consist of thousands of islands, all of which border or are enveloped by the Caribbean Sea. Yet, they are divided as Island countries, some ?as a sprinkling of land belonging to a larger country, some remnants of past Grand Empires, British, French, Dutch and more. Some are small, often stunning pieces of paradise, surrounded by lapping turquoise water, lush vegetation, and mere extensions of their nearby mainland. Paradise Island is aptly named. It is a beauty to behold, located just off the shore of Nassau, Bahamas and is connected to the northern edge of the island of New Providence by two bridges.

A number of years ago I discovered a gem, hitherto unknown to me. It left such an astounding impression on me, I returned again recently. Like with a great piece of art or literature, the second visit yielded new discoveries, and even more magic and beauty. In this blog I’d like to focus on my first impressions, my unexpectedly delightful introduction to a town which remained mostly untouched since it first made it’s place on the map in 1154. I was on a cruise thru Scandinavia, Estonia and Russia, when our ship stopped about 40 miles south of Helsinki, and there it was…Tallinn, like a tiny precious jewel, so lovely my soul was nurtured just by coming upon it.
