PURIM

Monday, February 23, 2015
The holiday that's all fun and joy- On the 14th day of the month of Adar, Jews all over the world celebrate Purim, the favourite holiday of kids and adults alike. There is so much I love about this holiday: First and foremost, it is a celebration of women and an acknowledgment of our immense power and influence. There was this young, brave beauty who risked her life to save the doomed people of her tribe, put on a false identity as a gentile so she could marry a man she did not love but had to influence, using her beauty, wisdom and magical persona.

JERUSALEM IN THE SNOW (PART 3)

THE NEW 'BACKYARD' RESTAURANT FEATURING GOURMET KOSHER FOOD OPENS WITH GREAT RESPONSE!

Wednesday, February 4, 2015
Many months ago I wrote a very excited article about the news of a new venture by Mr. Offy Shifman, one of my favorite purveyors of gourmet Kosher food. It was rumored to be a BBQ restaurant named The Backyard, with opening date still unconfirmed, but my taste budsbegan percolating enough to prompt a blog.

THE ATLANTIS RESORT, IN BEAUTIFUL NASSAU, BAHAMAS

Wednesday, June 11, 2014
The Caribbean Islands consist of thousands of islands, all of which border or are enveloped by the Caribbean Sea. Yet, they are divided as Island countries, some ?as a sprinkling of land belonging to a larger country, some remnants of past Grand Empires, British, French, Dutch and more. Some are small, often stunning pieces of paradise, surrounded by lapping turquoise water, lush vegetation, and mere extensions of their nearby mainland. Paradise Island is aptly named. It is a beauty to behold, located just off the shore of Nassau, Bahamas and is connected to the northern edge of the island of New Providence by two bridges.

Swimming with Dolphins and Sea Lions in Dolphin Cay, Bahamas
In this amazing 14 acres resort, filled with 7 million gallons of sparkling, crystalline seawater, I got to visit one of the largest and most advanced animal rescue and rehab facilities in the world. My immediate impulse was to go deep sea diving and join the dolphins as their agile bodies swam around, all the while feeling safe. I had an encounter with a dolphin who picked me and not only stuck around but actually gave little gentle nudges to my face, and continued with me as I surfaced and removed my mask.

A number of years ago I discovered a gem, hitherto unknown to me. It left such an astounding impression on me, I returned again recently. Like with a great piece of art or literature, the second visit yielded new discoveries, and even more magic and beauty. In this blog Id like to focus on my first impressions, my unexpectedly delightful introduction to a town which remained mostly untouched since it first made its place on the map in 1154. I was on a cruise thru Scandinavia, Estonia and Russia, when our ship stopped about 40 miles south of Helsinki, and there it wasTallinn, like a tiny precious jewel, so lovely my soul was nurtured just by coming upon it.
